Jason Franklin

Jason Franklin

The “I AM” exhibit is a chronicle about the presence of GOD within all of us. In this body of work, I attempted to show glimpses of God’s glory and love through people, relationships, and color. I composed quiet visual stories that reflect and imitate the great “I AM’s” love. Many of the titles are completed with a simple description or affirmation such as I AM Happy, I AM My Sister’s Keeper. I use personal moments about family and friends, along with a few historic figures, to visually demonstrate our connection with the great I AM. In many of the works, there is literal radiation or illumination that abounds throughout the surface and compositions. Most importantly, these works were created to give the viewer a feeling of the moment or relationship. Over the years, I have been inspired by artists like Barkley Hendricks, Charles Joyner, John Biggers, and Lope Max Diaz. I am truly fascinated with the portrait, relationships, and history. This work affirms our humanity and our community. I hope that you enjoy these reflective visual moments and interconnected relationships.
